Forest School
Brooklands School is set within grounds of green spaces, with an array of trees and shrubs that makes our school unique and enables us to run a successful Forest School programme. Our Forest School area allows children to explore and learn in a natural setting and allows real-life learning opportunities linked to the world around them. Part of our vision as a school is to support children's personal development alongside their academic progress, and Forest School provides a unique opportunity to enhance this. Forest School promotes self-esteem, creativity, confidence and independence, and enables supported risk-taking, child-centred learning, exploration and play; all of which are elements that we feel will help children to thrive both at Brooklands and beyond. If you would like to find out more about the principles of Forest School you could visit the Forest School Alliance website, where there is lots of further information: https://forestschoolassociation.org/what-is-forest-school/
Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have sessions at Forest School every week, run by a member of staff who is a trained Forest School leader. Our older classes also utilise the Forest School to support learning during science and art lessons, as well as providing a calm, nurturing setting for mindfulness sessions during PSHE.
The below two members of staff are part of our Forest-School Team and support us with ensuring the environment is used safely and responsibly to support learning.
