Small Tales Storytelling Clubs’ Travelling Troupe Launch
Small Tales Storytelling Clubs, founded by Debbie Guneratne, celebrated the launch of their Travelling Troupe with an afternoon of stories from around the world at Ripley Arts Centre. Guests were told the story behind the formation of the club in 1995, which was how a boy diagnosed with cancer began to speak again after he heard Debbie tell a story. On her return Debbie decided to find a way to give children the power and confidence in their own voice and so Small Tales was formed.
Members from Brooklands are Dan Kelly, Joe Salih and Jamaica Williams.
They performed to a full house and several previous members attended, including Ellen Beer, the first member to achieve her seven year apprenticeship and now training to be a teacher and Philip Travers-Spencer doing a degree in Drama.
Each present member has completed a minimum of two years training and now will be invited to perform around the country and so the tale goes on…
